Jackie and I have so much in common

I've always loved Jackie Onassis Kennedy but then I came across this photograph of her as a little girl that warmed my heart.

I've been known to ride a horse a time or two also.

My frist real love, Piper

When I have children and force them to ride ponies I am going to have to find one of these hats that Jackie is wearing in this photograph.

The Purge

While all of my friends (and all of America) have been decorating their Christmas trees and putting up holiday decorations, I have been packing everything I own into boxes and rolling suitcases.

Take a look at our holiday cheer:

I've left a big box in the living room to collect items we want to donate. My goal was to purge at least 30 things from our apartment that someone else would get more use/enjoyment out of than we are. So far I've collected:

1 cookbook
3 pillows
1 cookie sheet (in rough shape)
2 glass liquor decanters
3 pairs of shoes
5 sweaters
1 set of sheets
1 pair of jeans
2 picture frames
2 novels
a box of tea lights
miscellaneous kitchen tools
2 beer openers (why do we have so many of these!?)

I'm sad we won't be joining the masses who are enjoying their Christmas deocrations right now- but it will be worth it when I'm not trying to pack up ordinments at the last minute.

This holiday-ish photo of us will have to do instead:

Tinsel and Tiffanys

Love this romantic shot from Tiffany’s latest holiday campaign. I certainly wouldn’t mind if the Mr. came home tonight with a Christmas tree and little blue box…a girl can dream ; )

Does anyone have a tree up yet? We aren't putting one up this year- more to come on that later.

2 pounds closer to a back massage

We may have picked a rough {er, I mean yummy!} time of year to start, but JJ and I have entered into a "Waist Race" with a couple of our friends. We're teaming up  middle school style: Girls vs Boys. Which ever team can lose the highest percentage of weight before Mr. and I move wins.

Our before pictures....

Want to know what's up for grabs?

If the girls end up the most skinny-tastic: The Boys have to cook and serve us dinner (plus clean it all up, obviously!), give us each a 30 minute back massage and wait on us hand-and-foot for one night.

If the boys end up the most skinny-tastic: The Girls have to cook and serve them dinner (plus clean it all up), and serve them hand-and-foot while they play XBox all night. And, we aren't allowed to make fun of how nerdy they are for wanting their prize to be XBox.

I'll spare you...

I'll spare you any more "Thanksgiving Thankfuls" and leave you with this graphic. I think it pretty much covers it.

Shaved Heads and Soggy floors

I don't know about you but it's been a pretty eventful weekend around here.

Friday night Mr. and I went to our friends' house for dinner and (because we are so far from normal) we ended up doing this instead:

Yes, this is our friend shaving JJ's head. I wish I could tell you how it went from me mentioning that JJ needed a haircut to this- but I cannot because I honestly have no idea. The second two pictures are of my friend vacuuming up JJ's hair as it feel onto the ground. Then she gave up and just started vacuuming his head. Clean Freak!

This morning I made a huge breakfast for all my sister and JJ's friends who spent the night here. Shortly after we headed to my sister's house (in an litterly other town) to help mop up water damage from a toilet that had been overflowing all night. She has crappy luck--litterly.

Now I'm laying in bed instead of making dinner. Is it Thanksgiving yet?

Thanksgiving Thankfuls: Health

JJ and I are both lucky to be healthy {except for this nasty cold that I haven't been able to shake}

Thanksgiving Thankfuls: Fulfilling Work

I am so thankful to have a job that is making a difference in children's lives.

Thanksgiving Thankfuls: friends

I wish I was a Cat Person

I wish I could be a cat person. I've always liked the cats that my parents have had and I do think some of the "LOL Cats" pictures are cute, but I just can't get revved up about the idea of having a cat in our new apartment.

And, I guess it wouldn't be fair to have a dog ride up and down the elevator from our apartment 8 floors each time he needs to go potty. So, I wish I was a cat person.

This is a daily conversation at our house. JJ wants a cat so bad he offered to clean its litterbox Forever. I so badly don't want a cat I offered to let him have the garage parking spot and I would park outside in the snow if we don't get one.

I guess we should just get a fish. We are clearly not ready for any more responsibility.

Another online magazine...

Remember when I told you about Gifted Magazine? Another new online magazine just put out their gift guide. It's worth {virtually} flipping through!

What do you think? I'm digging their ideas for green wrapping paper.

Home Tour

This cute friend recently had a birthday:

And 'round these parts, birthdays are a big deal. While my other friends were toasting and eating dinner, I was the awkward one walking around taking pictures of her apartment. I'm cool like that.

Before she moved in, this building had caught on fire and been condemed by the city. Now it looks like a million bucks. The hallway with the beautiful navy velvet curtains was once the front deck of the house. Because of that, there are brick windows into the kitchen and bedroom.

And, just in case you still need proof about how cute she is, take a look at this video of her performance at the sushi restaurant on my birthday...

More Chevron

Look what I scored on One Kings Lane today:
It was my first One Kings Lane purchase so I'm excited for it to come in the mail. Need an invitation to OKL? Click here.

Nailheads and Chevron: Music to my Bum

I went on a mission yesterday to measure all the rooms in our new condo to make sure our furniture would fit. While the measurements concluded that my current armchair would fit, it is in pretty bad shape so this little beauty made its way home with me.

nailheads AND linen chevon? Be still my heart!

And here's a sneak peak of the custom ottoman I ordered to go with it. You (and me) will have to wait until after Christmas to see it.

Other than that I spent the weekend relaxing with my family, who came to town for the University of Missouri vs Kansas State University football game. Regardless of who won (which was MU!), it is hard not to have a great time at a tailgate with mimosas, rum cake and breakfast casseroles!

Happy Friday!

In my eyes, Emersonmade can do no wrong. They just made my Friday with this little addition to their store.

Sold on Bold in STL Homes Mag

I had fun playing with furniture with my good friend, Katie, for a story she was writing on bold prints. Katie is the Managing Editor for St. Louis Homes and Lifestyles Magazine and I am constantly jealous of her job/life.

Want to know where you can buy these drool-worthy chairs? Check out Katie's story here.

I really didn't help that much. I mostly snacked on chips and watched Dexter while she worked. Every once in a while I would chime in to scoff about how much I wanted each of these chairs but cannot afford them.
Let's ignore for a minute that I took this picture while I was driving down the highway and enjoy how beautiful fall sunsets are in the midwest. It has seriously looked like this every night for a week, which is making it bearable that it is getting cold.

Multi-Colored Happiness Coma

Kate Spade's new holiday gift collection is up on their website and has me in a multi-colored happiness coma. I may or may not have just ordered something spectacular for my sister for Christmas.

It's official!

It's official! The lease is currently laying on our counter waiting to be signed. We've decided on an apartment and I couldn't be more excited.

The new apartment is 1100 square feet (compared to our current 890!), with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has lots of upgrades including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances (with a gas stove), large closets, 24 hour doorman, assigned garage parking and a penthouse pool. The building is walking distance to JJ's office and right in the heart of some really neat neighborhoods. Plus, we didn't have to compromise our budget!

We are moving in less than a 6 weeks!
